Robbery on Saugeen First Nation results in arrest

A robbery at a business on Saugeen First Nation (SFN) has resulted in the arrest of a resident from the area.

On Tuesday, October 7 just before 9 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP officers responded to a reported robbery at a business located on Highway 21 on Saugeen First Nation.

Officers were told that an individual came into the business armed with a knife and demanded cash from the employee. The suspect then ran off with a quantity of cash and merchandise from the business.

The suspect was found and arrested without incident a short time later.

A 31-year-old resident of Saugeen First Nation has been charged with robbery with a weapon,wearing a disguise with intent, two counts of failing to comply with probation order ,and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing scheduled for October 9 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
