Goderich to host "Bring the Heat" hockey tournament

More than 300 young hockey players will hit the ice in Huron County next weekend for the second annual Bring the Heat U11 Girls Hockey Tournament.

Hosted by the Huron Heat Girls Hockey Association, the event runs October 17-19, 2025 with 21 teams competing across four divisions. A total of 48 games will be played at the Seaforth Arena, Clinton’s Eastlink Arena, and the Maitland Recreation Centre in Goderich, which will serve as tournament headquarters.

The tournament opens Friday at 5 p.m. with a ceremony featuring team introductions, remarks from Heat President Sara Van Drunen and Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet, and a live performance of O Canada by player Sawyer Haney.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
