Driver arrested after fleeing police during seatbelt stop in Kincardine

A driver is now facing numerous charges after taking off from a traffic stop in Kincardine.

On October 16 at 9 a.m., South Bruce OPP officers pulled a vehicle over for a seatbelt violation on Millennium Way in Kincardine.

The suspect vehicle pulled off into a nearby parking lot. When officers informed the driver why they were being pulled over, the driver allegedly swore at the officers and then sped off in their vehicle.

Due to public safety concerns, police did not attempt to pursue the vehicle, and the suspect was located and arrested later that same day.

A 32-year-old from Kincardine is now facing numerous charges, including flight from a peace officer, failing to properly wear seatbelt, and failing to surrender licence or insurance.

The accused is set to appear on December 4 in court to answer to the charges.
