Teen cyclist injured in hit and run

Provincial police in Huron County are asking for the public's help as they search for a driver who hit a teenage cyclist and then fled the scene.

Officers with the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police were called to a collision on Hwy. 21 north of Airport Road, north of Goderich, just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15.

"Police discovered that a 14-year-old cyclist had been hit by a vehicle that was travelling northbound on Bluewater Highway," police said. "The driver of this vehicle failed to remain at the scene and sped off at a high rate of speed northbound."

The cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

At the scene, officers found a passenger side mirror, believed to be from the vehicle that hit the teen. It is dark grey and likely from a 2011 or 2012 model year.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
