Huron County's annual cultural summit is less than a month away.
The Huron Cultural Office will host the summit at the Blyth Memorial Hall at 423 Queen's St. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 13. The theme of this year's day-long event is "belonging" and will explore how art, culture, and heritage are used as tools to build that sense of togetherness within communities.
"Each year, the Cultural Summit celebrates the creative spirit of Huron County," said Cultural Development Officer Allie Brenner. "This year’s theme invites us to think critically and collaboratively about how we build a sense of belonging in our communities through art and culture."
The event will also include an opening presentation from the Rainbow Diversity Institute's Malissa Bryan; talks hosted by artists James Fowler and Pearl Van Geest on how collaborative art can nurture connection, reflection, and purpose; a discussion from Terre Chartrand on building an Indigenous belonging resource; and a workshop for youth to create a special performance for attendees with the help of the Blyth Festival Young Company.
The cultural summit is free to attend, but advance registration is required through Eventbrite. Donations will be accepted at the door on the day of the event. That money is put toward keeping the summit financially accessible for all participants.
