Ribbon-cutting to be held for Carter Schoonderwoerd Memorial Rink

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in Mitchell for the Carter Schoonderwoerd Memorial Rink.

The outdoor rink will be housed in the Keterson Park - Tim Hortons pavilion in Mitchell. It was constructed to honour Carter Schoonderwoerd, who sadly was lost to suicide at the age of 19 in June of 2021.

Both the Schoonderwoerd and Terpstra families worked to make the rink a reality, alongside help from friends and family, the Municipality of West Perth, Mitchell Minor Hockey and many other donations and fundraisers.

Uniac Insurance and Van Allen Insurance both applied for various community grants to help the project.

The ribbon-cutting will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 10 a.m.
