Fire causes $50K in damage at Owen Sound restaurant

Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire early Monday morning at Kelsey’s Original Roadhouse on 16th Street East.

Fire Chief Phil Eagleson says crews were called to the restaurant shortly after 4 a.m. when the fire alarm system was activated. Fifteen firefighters responded to the incident.

The fire was contained to a service area of the restaurant, and officials say damage to the building was minimized. The restaurant remains closed while the investigation continues.

The Electrical Safety Authority and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services in determining the cause.

Damage is estimated at approximately $50,000.
