High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Residents in Huron County will have two opportunities next month to learn how to protect themselves from fraud.The Huron OPP’s Craig Soldan will lead Scam Awareness seminars focusing on common scams, protecting personal information, and what to do if you’ve been targeted.Sessions take place at the Brussels Library on Wednesday, November 26 and at the Wingham Columbus Centre on Thursday, December 4, both running from 10 to 11:30 a.m.Organizers say scammers often take advantage of the holiday season through fake charities, online shopping fraud, phishing emails, and "grandparent" scams.Seating is limited, and attendees are asked to RSVP by calling 519-887-2662.
