The intense winter storm system still moving through Midwestern Ontario has caused numerous bus cancellations and school closures on Friday.
The Upper Grand District School Board has confirmed that once again, all schools in Zone 3, which covers Wellington North, are closed due to the weather. This will impact parent-teacher interviews that were scheduled to take place. Parents and families will be notified soon regarding a rescheduling of these interviews.
Huron County declared a significant weather event for the area as of 7:30 a.m. Friday. It will be in place until further notice, and the county is asking drivers to avoid unnecessary travel on county roads, and to use extreme caution if doing so.
Perth County has also declared a significant weather event, as well.
Environment Canada says that flurries and snow squalls will continue into Saturday in the region, with heavier snowfall near the Georgian Bay lakeshore.
