One person is facing charges in connection with property damage and a stolen cargo van in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
A homeowner called Grey Bruce OPP shortly before noon on December 31 to report a person had gone inside their garage and damaged a vehicle cover. While officers were on scene investigating about half an hour later, a call came in about a white 2013 cargo van being stolen from a nearby residence.
Police began patrolling the area and soon found the stolen vehicle at Main Street and Scotland Street. As police approached the van, the driver took off running.
After a brief foot chase, a 50-year-old of no fixed address was arrested. That individual is charged with theft of a vehicle, mischief under $5,000, and theft over $5,000. The accused appeared for a bail hearing in Owen Sound court on January 1 where they were remanded into custody, police said.
