Snowmobiler killed in crash northwest of Chesley

A 56-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a snowmobile northwest of Chesley.

The snowmobile collided with a vehicle on Bruce Road 11 between Sideroad 20 and Sideroad 25 around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday. The snowmobile operator, a 56-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries, South Bruce OPP said.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

The section of Bruce Road 11 was closed while members of the OPP traffic incident management enforcement, technical collision, investigation and reconstruction teams were on scene.

The road was reopened around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

This is the second fatal snowmobile collision in less than a week on a West Region OPP patrolled road. Last Saturday morning, a 14-year-old boy was killed when his snowmobile collided with a pickup truck at an intersection southeast of St. Marys.
