Registration opens Tuesday for Owen Sound youth programs

Online registration for 2026 City-run youth summer camps in Owen Sound opens Tuesday, February 17 at 9 a.m., giving families the opportunity to secure spots in a wide range of sports and arts programs for the season ahead.

The City of Owen Sound is once again offering a variety of affordable and inclusive recreation options designed to keep young people active, engaged and learning throughout the summer months. Camps focus on building skills, encouraging creativity and ensuring fun, while making full use of the community’s recreation facilities, cultural venues and natural spaces.

Among the returning favourites are Soccer Camp, Lacrosse Camp, Harrison Park Sports Camp, Hockey Camp, the Power Skating Program and the Hockey Skills Program. These programs are aimed at helping participants develop athletic ability and confidence in supportive, welcoming environments.

A highlight for 2026 is the expanded return of Camp TOM: Summer Art Adventures at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery. The popular arts-based camp will run for seven full weeks in July and August. In response to strong interest from families, the gallery is also introducing new single-day PD Day art camps in June.

Camp TOM offers hands-on artistic experiences inspired by the natural beauty of Harrison Park and the legacy of renowned Canadian painter Tom Thomson. Led by the gallery’s Education and Engagement team, campers experiment with a variety of techniques and materials, including watercolour painting, clay sculpting, printmaking and collage. Programming includes studio sessions, outdoor sketching, guided exploration of Thomson’s artwork and hikes that foster creativity and connection to the landscape. Each week concludes with an art show in the gallery studio, where participants can proudly share their work with family members.

All summer camp registration will be completed online beginning at 9 a.m. on February 17 through OwenSound.ca/YouthPrograms. Families are encouraged to review program details, registration requirements and updated policies in advance. The City notes that its summer camp cancellation policy has changed, and last-minute cancellations will no longer be eligible for a full refund.

More information about sports camps and recreation programs is available through the City of Owen Sound, while details about Camp TOM can be found through the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
