Alberta Clipper to bring up to 10 cm snow to midwestern Ontario

Midwestern Ontarians will be shoveling out by Wednesday morning.

An Alberta Clipper is expected to move across the region Tuesday night, dumping 5 to 10 centimetres of snow.

Environment Canada has upgraded a special weather statement to a yellow-level blowing snow advisory for all of midwestern Ontario.

Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility. Road closures are possible," the national weather agency said. "Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve."

Drivers who chose to venture out in the snow are advised to leave extra time to get where they are going.

The snow will become less intense after midnight. However, Environment Canada expects conditions to worsen again by Wednesday afternoon.

A yellow-level snow squall watch has been issued, with the potential for snow squalls to bring another 5 to 15 centimetres of the white stuff on February 25.
