More than $2.1M in illegal cannabis seized in Central Huron

Huron OPP are describing a marijuana grow-op that netted more than $2.1-million worth of illegal drugs as "highly organized and complex."

Investigators with the Huron-Perth OPP community street crimes unit launched the probe that led officers to search a rural property on Base Line in the Municipality of Central Huron last Friday. According to police, over 4,000 cannabis plants and a large quantity of marijuana in various stages of production were seized.

The estimated value of the illegal drugs is more than $2,150,000.

A 61-year-old from Central Huron and a 43-year-old from Waterloo were arrested. They have been charged with one count each of possession for the purpose of distributing, and cultivating, propagating, or harvesting cannabis at a place that is not their home. The two accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Goderich court on April 20.

Police are asking anyone with information related to this drug investigation to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
