Person charged in Port Elgin home invasion

Saugeen Shores Police have charged a 23-year-old in connection with a home invasion reported last weekend.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a residential address in the Town of Port Elgin on February 28. The home owner alleged that they were assaulted and personal items were stolen.

Police obtained a description of the suspect and shortly after, a person matching the description was located on a nearby street and placed under arrest.

According to police, a search incident to arrest recovered the stolen items.

The suspect, a 23-year-old man of Neyaashiinigmiing, is now facing charges including break and enter, assault with a weapon, mischief, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
