Following a week of warm weather, heavy rainfall and in some areas of midwestern Ontario, flooding, Environment Canada is calling for a return of winter weather to start the weekend.
The national weather forecaster has issued a special weather statement for the region on Friday, forecasting snow and heavy winds in the afternoon and evening.
According to the statement, snow will begin in the morning, with 10 to 15 centimetres expected throughout the day. Snow may also be mixed with rain at times as temperatures should warm in the afternoon.
Winds are also forecast to gust between 50 and 70 km/h, resulting in blowing snow.
The weather is expected to ease as the system moves out of the province Saturday morning.
