Police locate pair connected to social media-inspired crimes

The Hanover Police Service arrested and charged two people in connection with a pair of tresspassings last weekend that were reportedly part of a social media challenge.

The incidents occurred on Sunday, March 29 around 9 p.m. in the subdivisions located in the northeast corner of the town.

The suspects reportedly kicked in the front doors of two houses and lit fireworks in the residential area. The victims in both cases were not known to each other and the attacks were determined to be random in nature.

Following an investigation, police identified and arrested two Hanover men aged 19 and 21, in connection with incidents. Both were charged with three counts of mischief and two counts of trespassing at night. They were later released from custody on conditions with court dates in Walkerton.

Police thank everyone who provided information, including video surveillance, which lead to the arrests.
