North Perth hands out Citizen of the Year and other honours

The Municipality of North Perth held a special gathering to recognize this year's Citizen of the Year and Celebrate North Perth Award Recipients.

North Perth celebrated volunteers and community leaders during Volunteer Appreciation Night in Atwood on April 23. During the gathering, the municipality recognized Dr. Barb Matthews with the 2025 Norm Stirling Citizen of the Year Award.

Dr. Matthews was the first female physician at Listowel Memorial Hospital and Clinic, and has been a local healthcare champion for nearly four decades. She is also an active volunteer, lending her efforts to events like hospital fundraisers, Paddyfest, and Agricultural Society initiatives.

Also, the municipality recognized Laila Blazek with the 2025 Youth Impact Award Recipient, and the three Celebrate North Perth – Inspiration Awards were given to Dianne De Jong, Mark Kennedy, and Jerry Rozendal.
