No one hurt in Owen Sound house fire

A single-family home was destroyed in a fire that broke out in Owen Sound Thursday afternoon.

According to the local fire department, crews responded to a call along Ninth Avenue East around 2:24 p.m. and were on scene by 2:30 p.m. A total of 14 firefighters responded to the scene.

One person was inside the home at the time of the fire but the Owen Sound Fire Department said they were able to safely evacuate without injury.

Officials estimate the damage to the residence is approximately $500,000. The cause is still under investigation.

Owen Sound Fire reminds the public that early notification to 911 is critical in any emergency, allowing firefighters to respond rapidly, protect nearby properties, and improve the chances of keeping occupants and crews safe.
