Clinton Raceway opening day set for Sunday

The sound of hoof beats will echo around Clinton this weekend, as the season opens at the Clinton Raceway.

Sunday marks opening day of the season. The first post time on Sunday is set for 1:30.

Officials say Sunday's opening day will include a fundraiser for Central Huron Secondary School. There will be draws for several prizes, including two Adirondack chairs, a custom fire pit, a YETI cooler and tumblers, and a Pineridge BBQ food package.

The season will run over 14 weeks, with a pause on June 7 for the Clinton Spring Fair.

"A major highlight of the season will take place in July, as Clinton Raceway hosts its signature Legends Day celebration alongside the prestigious National Driving Championship, an event that will showcase some of Canada’s top driving talent and draw fans from across the country in support of the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation," a statement from the raceway said.

The season will close September 6 with the annual Charity Driver's Challenge.
