Huron County Fire Chiefs have lifted any fire bans that were in place due to poor air quality.
Wildfire smoke from northern Ontario prompted air quality alerts last week, and eventually bans by some local fire departments.
On Tuesday, the joint Fire Chiefs said thanks to recent rainfall and improved conditions across the county, outdoor burning can now safely resume in accordance with municipal by-laws and any required permits.
Residents are reminded to follow safe practices when burning, including never leaving a fire unattended, keeping water or firefighting equipment on site, and ensuring fires are fully extinguished before leaving.
"The Huron County Fire Chiefs thank all residents for their patience, cooperation, and understanding while restrictions were in place," said the statement.
