Eight dogs, three cats, and a rabbit make up each month of the 2027 Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth pet calendar after a voting process that raised more than $32,000 for the non-profit organization.
Throughout July, the community voted on the over 135 pets competing for one of the 12 spots in the calendar. For every dollar donated, donors could cast one vote for the animal of their choice. By the time voting closed, more than $32,000 had been given, surpassing the record funds raised through the 2026 calendar content.
“This annual contest has always been bigger than cute pet photos,” said Breanna Langan, the humane society's marketing and communications coordinator. “Every year, we see more and more community members coming together to celebrate the pets they love, support animals they may have never even met before, and help animals in need.”
All proceeds from the voting and calendar sales will be used to pay for shelter, food, and life-saving care for local animals at the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth.
Six of the animals selected for next year's calendar found their forever homes after being cared for by the humane society.
The 2027 pet calendar goes on sale this Sunday at the humane society's Dash and Splash fundraising event. It will also be available at both of the organization's animal centres in Stratford and Kitchener and online at kwsphumane.ca.
