West Grey residents looking to green up their gardens and support local wildlife will have an opportunity to connect with an expert at the library later this month.
On Wednesday, September 30, the West Grey Library’s Environmentalist-in-Residence, Nikki, will hold a free drop-in session to share advice on using native plants and creating eco-friendly garden spaces.
Nikki brings a wealth of land stewardship experience to the role, including active involvement with Earth Works West Grey and Saugeen Nature. Beyond her gardening advice, she leads popular library programming on birds and wildlife, and serves as a co-coordinator for the community's "FBI: Fix Broken Items" events. During the most recent FBI event this past Saturday, volunteers repaired almost all of the 29 items brought in, successfully diverting them from local landfills.
The drop-in format is part of the library's broader in-residence series, which offers community members free, informal access to experts across several fields, including gardening, environmental stewardship, local history, and Indigenous culture.
The September 30 session is completely free, and no advance registration is required.
