The Goderich Flyers will be looking forward to a night off after back to back overtime games. Sunday night's 4-3 win over Mitchell came in the extra frame as part of three games in three nights over the weekend.
Cody McIntyre would get the eventual winner, putting the puck behind Keaton Weiss.
Mitchell had the early lead in the game, and never trailed in regulation. Trevor MacDonald opened the scoring before Mitch Kuik evened the score for Goderich.
Heading into first intermission, Adam Zehr would score on the power play to give Mitchell the lead. He beat Nathan Watson for his second of the season. Watson got the start a night after the Flyers' Pat Do left in the second period saturday against Goderich with an injury.
Curtis Taylor had the lone goal in the second period. Notting the game at 2-2 heading into the third period.
Once again it would be Mitchell with the lead, the Flyers never lead in the game before McIntyre's winner. Scott Munro gave the Hawks the lead with only three minutes to go.
The Flyers would not go down, Marcel Fohkens forced the extra frame with less than two minutes to go.
Goderich had fell narrowly to the Barons on the road last night and wasted no time getting the victory, McIntyre's winner came less than three minutes into extra time.
Sunday's game also saw the Flyers out shoot Mitchell 46-33. The wide gap has been rare on the season for Goderich, who have allowed the most shots, 813 on the season so far, over 100 more than any other team.
That win also knocks the Flyers out of the Western Junior C basement. Goderich moves ahead with their fifth win of the season, also knocking the 4-16-1 Hawks into last by a single point.
