Late Defeats Leave Listowel Rink Seeking First Win at Canada Cup

Team Flaxey suffered a pair of narrow blows Thursday night at the Canada Cup Curling tournament in Camrose, Alberta.

After narrowly falling to Olympic Champ Jennifer Jones Wednesday, The group out of Listowel Curling Club fell 7-5 to Sherry Anderson and 8-7 to Sherry Middaugh,

That first draw against Team Anderson saw Flaxey and company (including Belgrave's Katie Cottrill) climb back within one with a 6-5 margin heading into the final end, where Anderson would take one more.

In the second draw of the day, it was also close heading into the final end. Team Flaxey  held the 7-6 lead going into that 10th end where Team Middaugh took two and the eventual victory.

There is still time for the Ontario Scotties champions to get on the board at the tournament featuring the top men and women in the country. Today(Friday) they are up against Val Sweeting at 10:30 AM(Eastern Time) and Heather Nedohin at 3:30 PM(Eastern Time).

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
