Listowel Rink Gets First Victory at Canada Cup

Team Flaxey ended their Canada Cup tournament on a winning note in a 6-4 win over Heather Nedohin. The draw in Camrose, Alberta was the last for the Listowel rink as they have been eliminated from the tournament.

Friday started with a morning matchup against Val Sweeting. Team Sweeting would emerge victorious by an 8-5 scoreline.

Knowing their draw with Team Nedohin would be their last at the Canada Cup, Team Flaxey left it all on the rink in a close one. A close competition that they never trailed in. Leading 5-3 heading into the final two ends, Flaxey would concede one in the ninth while taking one in the 10th to regain and finish up by two.

With only the top three teams advancing in the event hosting the top teams in Canada, Team Flaxey (1-5) are done in Camrose. There is not much time to dwell on the past. The squad out of the Listowel Curling Club will be in the Grand Slam Canadian Open December 9th in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
