Listowel Cyclones Get Back on Track

The Listowel Cyclones put behind a rough November by ending their 7 game losing skid with a pair of wins over the weekend. On Friday, The Cyclones beat Brampton 5-2 and Cambridge 1-0 on Saturday.

As heard on CKNX Friday night, the game against Brampton was one where the host team never trailed. Derek Elliot would lead the way with a pair of goals. Ben Shelley, Corey Flemington and Caleb Warren would add singles.

On Saturday, Listowel made the trip down to Cambridge to face the Winter Hawks.

It was back-up goalie Tyler Fassl who stole the show, the Cyclones Ryan Hergott was serving a suspension picked up in the Brampton game. Fassl was spectacular, stopping all 35 shots he faced for the win.

An early Tim Nauta goal would end up being the game winner, with Elliot picking up the assist.

The pair of wins gives Listowel a 4 point weekend, they now sit 2 points back of Cambridge for 6th place in the GOJHL Midwestern conference. After going 1 and 7 in November, the Cyclones have 2 wins and 0 losses in December.
