Silver Stick Champions

For the first time in 17 years, the 'C' Championship at the Wingham Atom Regional Silver Stick was won by the host team.

Wingham beat Blyth-Brussels 2-1 in double overtime Saturday morning in the semi-finals, then held off South Bruce 3-2 in the championship game.  The last time Wingham won the tournament was in 1997.  Both teams had gone 3-0 in the round robin.  South Bruce had beat Dundalk 5-3 to advance to the championship game.

Wingham advances to the International Silver Stick Finals in Forest January 23 to the 25.

In the consolation game, Blyth-Brussels beat Dundalk 2-0.

The 'B' Divison pit defending champion Listowel against Kincardine.  Kincardine won it 1-0 in overtime.

Kincardine advances to the International Silver Stick Finals in Forest.

Mitchell beat South Huron 4-2 in the consolation game.

In the Lucknow Juvenile Silver Stick, Schomberg beat Drayton 4-3 in overtime to claim the championship.  The win gives Schomberg an opportunity to play in the International Finals in Mooretown from January 8 to 11.

Drayton earned the Eleanor Henderson Award for Sportsmanship.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
