Ironmen Slip Past Hawks

The Wingham Iromen escape the Mitchell Hawks in the third to take a 4-2 win at home Friday Night. Justin Jacklin would seal the game on an empty netter in the final minute.

It was a back and forth affair all night long, both sides trading the play, while neither able to dominate.

Wingham opened the scoring in the first. JJ Harland buried a play set up by Holdyn Lansink.

In the second, newcomer Keifer MacInnes potted his first in an Ironmen shirt on a passing play with Darren Kerr and Brett Brophy.

Jake Finlayson would put the Hawks within one, a harmless dump in ended up being tipped in by Wingham goalie Ben Nelson. The one goal separation was taken away when Josh Stewart put the hosts up 3-1.

Another weird bounce set up Mitchell's second goal. The third period marker from Jordan Mabb was knocked home into an open net. Jacklin would put it away with the net empty to put the game out of reach.

The Ironmen's next game is a big one Saturday night against Walkerton. The Hawks are also in action, against Hanover.
