The Bolts Win Christmas Classic

The Saugeen Maitland Midget AA Lightning were undefeated at the Mississauga Christmas Classic, taking a dominate 6-0 victory over Burlington in the gold medal game yesterday.

Lexi Smith scored a hat trick in the victory and was given player of the game honours.

Smith opened the scroing two minutes into the game, assisted by Taylor MacDonald. Jocelyn Ballantyne also earned an assits. Avery Reeves added another goal followed by Cassidy Mason and Smith as the Bolts finished the first period with a 4-0 lead.

Smith scored her third goal in the second, assisted by Erin Near and Ballantyne. Rebecca Ropp earned the shut out in goal for the Lightning.

The Lightning opened the tournament with a decisive 4-1 win over the North York Storm.

The Lightning downed the host team, the Mississauga Chiefs 4-1 in their second game. A win against Brampton in their third game secured a berth to the gold medal round.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
