Stratford To Host 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships

Stratford is set to host the 2016 Canadian Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships.

According to the announcement made on Friday, the week-long event will take place at the Stratford Rotary Complex, with both ice surfaces (RBC and Molson Arena) being used.

“The City of Stratford is excited and proud to be hosting the 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships,” Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson said in a media release on Friday. “The Rotary complex is an excellent facility and when combined with our community hospitality, I am sure this event will be a huge success. We look forward to hosting in 2016.”

The championship, similar to the Brier and Tournament of Hearts, has 14 teams representing each of the 10 provinces, along with Northern Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.

The 2016 event will be the first in Ontario since 2012, when it was held in Napenee.

The 2015 version of the Canadian Junior's will be held in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.
