Listowel Rink Starts Ontario Scotties Bid

Team Flaxey takes to the ice today in their first draw of the 2015 Ontario Scotties in Penetanguishene. The Listowel Rink is hoping for a repeat following a victory in the 2014 edition of the competition.

Curling out of the Listowel Curling Club, the event is the foursome's first big competition of the year. Skipped by Allison Flaxey, her rink features Belgrave's Katie Cottrill.

Monday night, Team Flaxey will face Team Varnes, skipped by Rhonda Varnes out of Rideau Curling Club. Start time is 7 p.m.

From there 8 more draws will be ahead, with 2-per-day from Tuesday to Friday. Playoff rounds begin Saturday.

A win at the Ontario Scotties will send them to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw. The competition serves as the Canadian curling championship.
