With only a month remaining in the regular season the Listowel Cyclones sit 7th in the GOJHL Midwest.
The position means a date with a top opponent may be in the cards. If the playoffs were to start today, they would be up against 2nd place Kitchener.
Listowel has managed results against top teams this season, especially at home. The defensive style applied by coach Jason Brooks has kept scores close, this included their 3-2 shootout win over Cambridge.
"Every game we've had with them has been close," Brooks said. "They took it to us in the first but we started getting our legs late."
Where the high tempo, in your face defense seems to work best is at home. Listowel has the third lowest goals against in the league, and average only 2.1 goals against at Listowel Memorial.
Brooks says that the key heading into the tail end of the season is mirroring that on the road.
"The biggest thing is to be consistent no matter at home or on the road." He said, "We're gonna face a really good team(in the playoffs), to do some damage we need to continue to get better on the road."
Listowel has two games coming up. Friday they host Guelph at 7:30 while heading to Cambridge Saturday for a 7:00 puck drop.
