Team Flaxey Bounces Back After Dropping First Wednesday Draw

After a loss in the first draw of the day, Team Flaxey rocked the rink in the evening matchup with a 13-4 victory over team Inglis. The win gives them a 3-2 record at the Ontario Scotties in Penetanguishene.

Earlier, the Listowel foursome skipped by Alli Flaxey moved to 2-2 after a 9-5 loss to Julie Hastings.

Team Flaxey managed to come back from 6-2 down and narrow the board to 6-5 in the seventh end. Team Hastings would score one in the eighth and two in the ninth to pull away.

The second draw of the day went much, much better. Against the Ottawa team skipped by Danielle Inglis, Flaxey and company never showed signs of weakness in a 13-4 win.

Opening up a 4-0 lead after 2, Team Flaxey took 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 7th and 4 more in the 8th to wrap up the night.

Now 3-2 for the provincial championship, Team Flaxey will face Shannon Kee and her team at 2 p.m Thursday. That night they take on Sherry Middaugh and her team at 7 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
