Two Locals Help Toronto Rock Win Home Opener

Lion's Head's Robbie Hellyer had two goals and three assists has his Toronto Rock improved to a record of 3-0 on Friday against Buffalo. Elora's Kasey Beirnes also had a big game for the Rock, potting three goals on ten shots in the Rock's home-opener.

Chad Clup of Fergus had four points for the Bandits.

Meantime there will be a number of local players in action in the NLL on Saturday.

Hellyer, Beirnes and Owen Sound's Hayden Smith are headed to Rochester for the Rock's date with the Knighthawks. Arthur's Patrick Saunders and Fergus' Craig England will suit up for New England when they take on Shane MacDonald (Elora) and the Minnesota Swarm. In the late game, Dane Dobbie (Elora) and his Calgary Roughnecks will play Edmonton.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
