Cyclones Drop First In February

The Listowel Cyclones put forth a good effort but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Stratford. While the loss snaps four straight wins, the games was part of a defensive shift that has came on since a 9-1 loss to the Cullitons in January.

Stratford opened the scoring in the first, Nathan Templeman scored the only goal of the period. Hayden Broomhead would add to the lead, making it 2-0 for the visitors midway through.

Listowel got the chance they were looking for on the power play. Keaton Willis buried on the power play with got the hosts within one. The goal also lead to a rain of teddy bears as the Sunday was 'Teddy Bear Toss Day' in Listowel.

In the third Stratford would once again double their lead, Trevor Sauder got credit.

Down two late, coach Jason Brooks pulled goalie Tyler Fassl for the extra attacker. It appeared to be for nothing until Derek Elliot found the net with 2 seconds remaining in the game.

Nicholas Caldwell made it tough for Listowel all game, stopping 35 of 37 shots, Tyler Fassl made 21 saves in the loss.

The Cyclones are back on the ice Monday against Elmira.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
