Exeter On To SOJHL Final

The Exeter Hawks are on to the SOJHL Finals after beating Mt.Brydges 5-4 in OT. The Hawks sweep the Bulldogs 4-0.

Both sides traded goals in the first. Matt Clarke and Trevor Thornton had the goals in between a pair from the visitors who were trying to keep the series alive.

Mt. Brydges took a lead out of the second period with the only goal of the frame. Exeter would need to comeback in the third to try and close out the series at home.

In the third, the Hawks got the goals they needed, back to back from Dylan Wilson-Foote and Tyler Kettler.  With only seconds remaining it appeared Exeter was already out of the series, but the Bulldogs had some bite. They scored with only 13 seconds to go, forcing overtime.

With a goal already, Trevor Thornton had one more to offer for the Hawks. He scored just over 3 minutes into overtime for the victory, the series sweep and a spot in the finals.

Chipping in with 2 assists was Chase Thornton, adding to his total of 20 points in only 8 playoff games. James Morreau made 28 saves for the win.

The Hawks now await the results of the other semi between Lambeth and Dorchester. That series sits at 2-1 in favour of Dorchester.
