Clinton Goalie Named OUA Top Rookie

With 7 shutouts in 14 starts, it is not a surprise that Stephanie Sluys would come away with some hardware  when the OUA named their Major Award Winners.

The Clinton Native came away with the OUA rookie of the year after a solid first season between the pipes for the University of Waterloo.

Sluys was forth best in the province in goals-against-average (1.68) and save percentage (.933). She had no problem adjusting to university hockey and at one point carried a five-game streak where she allowed just one goal and recorded three consecutive shutouts.

Along with the award, she was also named to the league's All Rookie Team. She was joined by Queens defenseman and Elora native Amber Sealy.

Fergus' Laura Brooker was named a First Team All-Star. The Laurier forward was named to that list for the second time in her career.
