Exeter Take Tight Game 1

The Exeter Hawks take a high scoring opener 7-6 in overtime against the Dorchester Dolphins for a 1-0 series lead in the SOJHL final. Chase Thornton continued to lead the Hawks, posting a 5 point night, including the game winning goal.

Exeter took an early lead, up 3-2 after 1, followed by a scoreless second. Goals for the home team came from Chase Thornton Tyler McNaughton and Trevor Thornton.

Dorchester took their first lead in the third,  scoring 3 straight goals for a 5-3 advantage only 5 minutes into the final frame.

The Hawks would scramble back not long after. Jon Baker, Chase Thornton and Tyler Kettler would score 3 straight to regain the 1 goal lead.

Dorchester had one more comeback left in them, scoring with the extra attacker to send the game into overtime at 6-6.

Just over 6 minutes in, Thornton would score his third of the night for the hosts, who are up 1-0 in the series going in to Dorchester for game 2.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
