Mapleton-Minto Keep Rolling In WOAA Semis

Mapleton-Minto took a commanding 3-0 series lead in their WOAA 'AA' semi-final with Elora following a 5-1 victory in Drayton.

It was one way traffic in the first with Mapleton-Minto dominating possession early on. However, the 81's were not able to convert. Elora would manage to draw first blood, scoring on their third power play of the period for a 1-0 lead into the break.

The 81's would open the second by getting their only power play of the game, and they took advantage of the chance. A power play goal on their only man advantage was followed by 4 more unanswered goals to end the period and the scoring for the night.

While going 1/1 on the power play, Mapleton-Minto captain Matt McCann said they were also proud of their strong penalty kill, that went 4/5 on the evening.

"We knew the series was going to be won or lost with special teams," He said. "If we could dominate(special teams) we would have a pretty good chance at walking away with a championship."

Game 4 of the series goes Sunday in Drayton at 4:30.
