Walkerton Hawks Next Series Confirmed

The Walkerton Hawks Schmalz Cup journey begins on Tuesday on home ice.

Game 1 of the OHA Schmalz Cup Quarter-Finals will be in Walkerton at 8:00pm.  This is the seventh time in eight years that the two teams have met in the Schmalz Cup playoffs with the Hornets taking every series.

The Hornets finished first in the Georgian Bay - Mid-Ontario League this season with a 32-6-1-1 record and waltzed through the league playoffs, only losing once in 13 games.  That loss came in the second round against Orillia.

The Walkerton Hawks finished second in the Western Jr. C League at 27-9 and had to go through Mitchell and Hanover in five games before holding off Wingham in the seventh game of the final.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
