Ontario Broomball Championships Set For Owen Sound This Weekend

Owen Sound will play host to some of the best Broomball players in Ontario when the provincial senior tournament comes into town.

Seven divisions featuring local teams and those from around the province will be on the ice this weekend for the Ontario Senior Provincials.

The competition begins Friday and runs until Sunday at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre and Harry Lumley Bayshore. Winners of the Elite division will advance to nationals next year.

"The game has cleaned up a lot it's pretty fast to maybe what it used to ber in the past." Organizer Ryan Greig tells CKNX News, "When you get into some of the better divisions it's extremely easy and fun to watch."

Five teams from the Owen Sound area will be joined by other regional teams coming from Seaforth, Blyth, Harriston, Cargill and Palmerston. In total, 50 teams will be attending the event.
