Walkerton Hawks Squeeze Through Double OT

The Walkerton Hawks are up 2-0 in their Schmalz Cup Quarter-Final against the Alliston Hornets, thanks to a 4-3 double-overtime win in Alliston on Friday.

Chris Gillman scored the winner on a rush to the net with just over three minutes left in the second overtime.  He was able to collect a rebound and fire it into the net.

Walkerton's penalty kill was key again, only allowing one Alliston power play goal in seven tries.  In two games, Alliston is just 2-for-15 with the man advantage.  Walkerton's power play has struggled too, 0-for-14 but Walkerton has found a way to score even strength.

Walkerton's other goals came from Brett Coulson and Lachlin Elder (2).

Walkerton goalie Erik Angeli was busy in net stopping 47 of 50 shots.

Game 3 is Saturday night in Walkerton at 8:00pm.  The game will be on CKNX with the pre-game show starting at 7:55pm.
