Local Women's Teams Win Provincial Titles

A number of local teams took part in the provincial women's hockey championships with 3 teams coming home with gold medals.

The Lucknow Legends captured the senior 'B' title with a 3-1 win over Belmont. They were joined at the top of the podium by Kincardine in the midget 'C' division, who beat Almaguin 4-3. TCDMHA from the Chatsworth area won the peewee 'C' title, beating Timmins 2-1. TCDMHA also won the atom 'C' gold with a 1-0 win against Mount Forest.

Other teams would win silver with Mount Forest in atom 'C' against TCDMHA. In atom BB Owen Sound lost 4-0 To Aurora in the gold medal game. Saugeen Maitland was beat 4-1 by Sudury for the midget 'AA' title.

Mitchell won the bronze at the atom 'C' with a 4-2 win over Russell Castor. West Huron won bronze in atom 'B', 2-1 over Wilmot. In the Senior 'C' division Milverton beat Orillia 4-2 for bronze.

All games were played over the weekend in the Toronto area.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
