OHL Gold Cup Roster Released

The OHL Gold Cup press conference was held Tuesday at Activa Sportsplex in Kitchener. The event was held to announce the release of the rosters for the 8 teams competing in the Gold Cup U-16 tournament this year in Kitchener. The OHL Gold Cup is in its’ 3rd year, and was established in 2013 as part of Hockey Canada’s revamped Program of Excellence. It features all the best under 16 players in Ontario, who are placed onto 8 teams based on their region.

On hand at the event was OHL Vice President Ted Baker, and 4 recent high profile OHL draft picks from this year’s draft: 1st overall pick David Levin (Sudbury Wolves), 13th overall Hayden Davis (Niagara Ice Dogs), 42nd overall Owen Daniels (Sudbury Wolves), and 43rd overall Jason Willims, a Kitchener native (Barrie Colts).

Noteable past alumni that has featured at this tournament include Dylan Strome of the Erie Otters, Mitch Marner of the London Knights, and Lawson Crouse from this year’s Gold Medal winning World Junior Team Canada. All 3 are projected to be top 10 picks in this year’s NHL draft.

This year’s OHL Gold Cup tournament runs from May 7th to Mother’s Day on the 10th, and will be held at the Activa Sportsplex.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
