Local Teams Open Senior Baseball Campaigns

Both the Hanover Honda Hitmen and Mitchell Astros opened their Thames Valley Senior Baseball campaigns over the weekend with much different results. The League rookies Hanover went 0-2 while Mitchell one both of their games to start the season.

The two sides faced each other in the opening game, which was Hanover's first ever game in the league. Mitchell took that game 18-7 at home.

On Sunday the Hitmen hosted their first ever home game against fellow league expansion team Lucan. Hanover held the lead at many points in the game but a comeback by the visitors led to a narrow 12-11 loss.

Elsewhere Mitchell had a better result in Sunday baseball. The Astros shutout Ingersoll 5-0 to wrap up the weekend.

Yet to open their season are the Kincardine Cubs. Last year's league champions open their season Saturday (May 30th) in London. Hanover has this next week off while Mitchell is in Lucan on Sunday.
