Stratford Native Inducted into Durham College Sports Hall of Fame

A Stratford native has been inducted into the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame.

Erin Smith started at Durham College in 2001 and graduated in 2005.

In a release, officials call Smith one of the greatest dual-sport athletes in the school's history.

Smith competed in both fastball and volleyball. As a pitcher, she posted a 24-0 career record and had 156 strike outs. She led the Lords to an OCAA silver medal in 2001-02 followed by three straight gold medals from 2002-2005.

Her number 11 jersey was retired upon graduation.

She finished her volleyball career at Durham with 564 points, the second most in Durham College history.  The volleyball team won gold in 2001-02.
