Cubs And Athletics Tops At U21 Fast Pitch Tournament

The New Hamburg - Stratford Cubs and Tavistock Athletics are leading the way at the U21 Mens' Canadian Fast Pitch Championships in Napanee.

Both teams picked up two more wins yesterday.

The Cubs beat Saskatchewan 10-2 and Newfoundland 6-2. Pitcher Matt Wardrop picked up the wins and the Cubs are now 6-0 in round robin play. The Cubs roster includes players from Huron, Perth and Bruce Counties.

The Tavistock Athletics, who have players from Perth County suited up, are 5-1 after the team beat both Napanee squads, 4-3 and 10-5.

Both the Cubs and Athletics play two more games today, including a 4 o'clock game against each other.

Going into today's games, the Cubs are in first with Tavistock tied with Alberta for second.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
