World Junior Roster Gets Thinner

Canada continues its process of trimming down to 23 players for the upcoming World Junior Tournament in Helsinki, Finland.

So far, Canada has cut Oshawa General left winger and Memorial Cup champion Michael DalColle, which came as a surprise to some.

The Canada staff has also cut 17 year old Sarnia star Dman Jakob Chychrun, and forwards Pierre Luc Dubois and Spencer Watson. That leaves Canada with 26 roster players.

NHL Vancouver also announced they would lend Jake Vitanen, and goalie Samuel Montembault was added in wake of Mackenzie Blackwood being suspended for the first 2 games of the tournament. The Barrie goalie is likely to assume the starting role once his suspension is over. Vancouver has yet to decide if they will lend former Soo Greyhound sniper Jared McCann yet, as that would likely push someone in current camp out of a spot.
