A Mitchell Hawk forward earned player of the month honours in the Western Jr. C league.
Jalen Aitcheson lead all scorers in December with 13 points. The Hawks were 5-3 in December and have climbed into fourth place after starting the season 1-9.
The Howick Mutual Western Jr. C Rookie of the Month for December is Eric Langridge of the Kincardine Bulldogs. The 17-year old defenceman has 21 points this season, good for fourth in team scoring.
It is a New Year's Day break for Western Jr. C teams but there is a full slate of games coming up on Saturday.
Hanover will play in Mitchell at 7:15 p.m., Kincardine in Goderich at 7:30 p.m. and Wingham will be in Mount Forest for an 8 p.m. game.
The league leading Walkerton Hawks will open up 2016 on home ice on Sunday with a game against Hanover at 2:50 p.m.
